Academic Field Study in Eskil District by Our Department Faculty Members

Faculty members from the Department of History at Aksaray University (ASÜ) conducted a comprehensive field study to assess the historical depth and academic research potential of the Eskil district on-site.

The technical visit, held on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, was attended by our department faculty members, Prof. Dr. Necmettin AYGÜN and Asst. Prof. Dr. Selim KARAGÖZ. Local administrative authorities and relevant institution directors also participated in the visit, which focused on analyzing Eskil’s historical fabric in the light of scientific data and exploring opportunities to transform the historical development of regional settlements into academic publications.

Scientific Data and Field Assessment

Within the scope of the visit, historical sites in the district were examined on-site alongside the District Governor of Eskil, Mr. Taha SOYDAŞ; the District Gendarmerie Commander, Senior Lieutenant Sıddık YILMAZ; the Director of Aksaray Museum, Emrah GÖKCAN; and the Mayor of Eşmekaya, İsmail Hakkı GÜNEŞ. During the inspections, consultations were held regarding the data the region offers for historiography and the areas that could serve as a primary source for future scientific projects.

Future Vision and Academic Roadmap

During the field studies, the preservation of historical sites in and around Eskil and the methodological planning of scientific research processes were addressed. With the academic contributions of our department faculty, a comprehensive "Future Roadmap" was prepared, focusing on publication projects and new research areas that will bring the district's historical heritage to light.

This collaboration aims to introduce the unknown aspects of the cultural heritage of Aksaray, and particularly the Eskil region, into the scientific literature. Our department will continue to support such academic field studies and scientific projects coordinated with public institutions to illuminate the history of our city.
