Dr. Şerife ŞİMŞEK, a faculty member of our department, delivered a lecture titled "The Sorbonne Years of Remziye Hisar, One of the First Female Chemists of the Republic" at the Conference Hall of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Aksaray University.
The event was organized to commemorate Remziye Hisar, one of the first female chemists in the history of the Republic, whose life was dedicated to science and serves as an exemplary figure. The lecture particularly focused on her years at the Sorbonne University and the key turning points in her scientific career.
In the early years of the Republic, when it was full of challenges for a woman to find her place in the scientific world, Remziye Hisar’s success is considered not only a personal triumph but also an important symbol of Turkey's modernization process.
