On Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 14:00, our faculty hosted a conference titled “Ukraine: From Past to Present.”
The event featured two speakers: Dr. Research Assistant Selim Karagöz from our department, and Alla Renska, a third-year student in the Department of Turkology at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
Dr. Karagöz delivered a comprehensive presentation on the origins of the Ukrainian peoples and the historical background of the term “Ukraine.” He also discussed the presence of Turkic peoples in the Ukrainian geography from the Huns to the Ottoman Empire, offering a broad historical overview to the audience.
Erasmus student Alla Renska provided a general assessment of Ukraine’s history, culture, social structure, and current situation. She highlighted the country’s geographical features, national symbols, rich culinary heritage, and religious and national holidays, emphasizing the cultural diversity of Ukraine.
The program concluded with a Q&A session, followed by the presentation of certificates to the speakers by our faculty’s vice deans, Prof. Dr. Ayhan Erciyes and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdulmuttalip İpek.
