"Norsemen in England" Conference Held at Aksaray University
Research Assistant Dr. Selim Karagöz from the Department of History at Aksaray University delivered a conference titled "Norsemen in England: The Linguistic and Cultural Legacy of the Scandinavians" at the Faculty of Education Conference Hall, upon the invitation of the EduTalk Student Club.
The event, held on Monday, March 10, at 13:00, attracted great interest, particularly from students interested in the English language and culture. In his presentation, Dr. Selim Karagöz explored the linguistic and cultural legacy of the Vikings in England, detailing the long-term impact of this interaction on the English language. Additionally, he provided in-depth information on the interactions between the Vikings and the Anglo-Saxons, Scandinavian-origin words incorporated into Old English, and cultural transformations.
This conference, attended by both students and academics, provided participants with new perspectives on history, linguistics, and cultural interaction. At the end of the event, attendees had the opportunity to ask Dr. Karagöz questions and gain deeper insights into the topic.
