Orientation and Academic Advising Meetings for the 2026–2027 Academic Year were held by the Department of History, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Aksaray University, to support newly enrolled students in adapting to university life and the academic procedures of their department.
The meetings aimed to facilitate students’ adjustment to university life, provide information about the department’s educational activities, and contribute to their academic development. Key topics related to university life were addressed, including educational objectives, student rights and responsibilities, the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) and the Bologna Information Package, student exchange programmes, quality assurance processes, and programme accreditation. In addition, particular emphasis was placed on raising students’ awareness of career planning and management. The academic advising sessions focused on helping students understand academic procedures and plan their educational journeys more effectively. Accordingly, students were informed about course registration and add/drop procedures, compulsory and elective courses, project work, internships, and seminar requirements. The meetings also provided opportunities for students to consult with their academic advisors and exchange views on matters concerning their studies. These activities aimed to prevent potential difficulties, support academic achievement, and help students navigate their educational processes more effectively. As the Department of History, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Aksaray University, we aim to ensure that orientation and academic advising activities contribute positively to students’ academic, professional, and personal development while encouraging their active participation in university and departmental life.
